Our Client, based in Ulverston, Cumbria, are leaders in their field of Structural Steel Fabrications, and Buildings. Due to the growth of the company, they are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and experienced Financial Controller to join our Finance Team. This is a Hybrid, role on either a Full or Part Time basis, with a minimum 24 – 32 hours per working week.

The successful candidate will be required to attend Head Office every Friday and must be able to drive as the company offices are not on a public transport route

Experience:

  • Previous Financial Controller experience would be highly beneficial
  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting or related field
  • Exposure to a similar industry
  • · Knowledge of relevant accounting packages
  • Proficient spreadsheet skills
  • Monthly overview reporting against budget
  • Draft management reports
  • Profit and loss and balance sheet
  • Liaison with external accountants
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and payment of monthly payroll
  • Monthly and annual payroll tax reconciliation
  • Monthly and annual group tax reconciliation
  • Research into and implementation of practices to ensure compliance with any legislative changes
  • Operation of electronic funds transfer system between bank accounts
  • Daily balance check to maintain funds
  • Operation of funds transfer system for employee salary processing
  • Production of cash flow projections

General Management:

  • Ensure fee earners receive work in progress (WIP) reports prior to facilitating billing process
  • Liaise with fee earners prior to billing cut-off date to ensure fee budgets are met
  • Follow correct authorisation procedures for work in progress write offs
  • Involvement in fee earner budget setting and maintenance
  • Assisting departments in reporting on group performance at monthly group meetings
  • Maintenance of the company’s bank accounts
  • Ensure maximum utilisation of resources within the accounting department
